Wallaroo Celebrates B Corp Month

March is one of our favorite months at Wallaroo Hat Company, as it means spring and summer are right around the corner. But there’s another reason we look forward to this time of year - March is B Corp Month. As a Certified B Corp since 2014, Wallaroo joins other businesses in the B Corp Community to celebrate being part of a movement that is transforming our economic system for the better.

What is a B Corp?

Certified B Corporations (known as “B Corps”) are companies that have undergone a rigorous certification process to demonstrate they meet high standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability. Once certified, B Corps must show continuous improvement and be recertified every three years.

As a Certified B Corp, Wallaroo Hat Company celebrates being part of a global movement of like-minded businesses aimed at redefining success in business and positively affecting customers, society at large, and the environment.

Our Commitment to Wallaroo Customers

Wallaroo is a leader in the fashion-forward, sun-protective hat industry, and we take pride in combining the latest fabrics and designs with maximum sun protection. Being part of a B Corp means we carefully consider the impact of our practices and decisions on our workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment.

Many of the hats in our Wallaroo Collection are rated UPF 50+, ensuring the customer gets a 97.5% UV block from the sun's harmful rays. Our hats align with our mission to spread the critical message of skin cancer prevention and awareness. Each year, Wallaroo donates 1% of our profits to different organizations undertaking skin cancer research, prevention, and education in the United States. In addition, we proudly support the Melanoma Research Foundation, The Skin Cancer Research Foundation, and the Colorado Melanoma Foundation.

As a Certified B Corp, our focus is on transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. Being a part of a B Corp requires maintaining high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency, adhering to supply chain practices, and participating in charitable giving.  

At Wallaroo, protecting the environment is a top priority. We use natural, sustainable materials to manufacture our Wallaroo hats in vetted factories and produce them in environmentally friendly Co-Ops. In addition, we make concerted efforts to compost, recycle, and eliminate plastic usage.
