Spring is in the Air

There are so many reasons to celebrate March!

At Wallaroo Hat Company, we love March. For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s the time of year when we start to see signs of spring. The days get longer, the birds start chirping, and the weather begins to warm up so we can switch out our winter Wallaroo hats for our summer ones. Here at our headquarters in Boulder, Colorado seeing Wallaroo hats out in the wild, means spring and summer are knocking at the door.

One place you can find a lot of Wallaroo hats in March is at the BNP Paribas Open. The BNP Paribas tournament is held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Palm Springs, California. It’s the place to be if you love world-class tennis. It’s also the place to be if you love stylish sun protection. You’ll see lots of our hats in the stands, because both Wallaroo and Carkella hats are sold at the event. In fact, we created a special BNP Paribas Open magnetic emblem for the Open in 2019.

Wondering how the emblems work? Carkella hats have a magnet embedded in the trim, allowing you to mix and match emblems to express your personal style or professional/personal affiliations. Choose from existing Carkella emblems, or have a custom emblem created for personal events - such as weddings, golf tournaments, company outings, or family reunions.  

Finally, we especially love March because March is B Corp Month, and Wallaroo Hat Company has been a Certified B Corp since 2014. What does being a B Corp mean to Wallaroo? It means that we are part of a B Corp global community of like-minded businesses that are redefining success in business and at the same time positively affecting customers, society at large, and the environment.  

It  means that as we work to create the latest fabrics and designs for our maximum sun protection hats, we’re also carefully considering the impact of our practices on our workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment. In short, our practices align with our mission to spread the critical message of skin cancer prevention and awareness. 

The bottom line? Being a B Corp means that we’re part of a movement to transform the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. This is seen in our work at Wallaroo, and through our donations and charitable work. Through our Sun Protection Commitment Program, we proudly donate 1% of our profits to various organizations who take part in skin cancer research, prevention, and education in the US, and we support several melanoma and skin cancer foundations.

In addition, our team shares the B Corp vision. On a large scale, this is seen in our work to help transform the global economy, but we also do this every day in our work close to home. Here in Boulder, CO, our team proudly supports our community and loves to use company outings as opportunities to give back and support local businesses.
