You know the feeling you get when you’re sporting your favorite outfit and a pair of great shoes? Amazing, right? It’s the stuff selfies and updated profile pics are made of.

And the thing is, a fabulous outfit doesn’t need to cost a lot or be the latest and greatest - it just needs to be something we love AND one that fits well, so we’re comfortable with how it looks and feels.

And here’s the deal. The same thing goes for hats.

A hat can enhance your outfit.

A great hat (like a Wallaroo!) that complements your face shape and body size can take your look to the next level.

So, let’s talk about choosing the perfect hat, shall we?

The first thing to keep in mind is that your hat should balance out your features rather than exaggerate them - so when you’re choosing a hat, look for one that’s proportional to your face and body.

Are you wondering - how do I do that?

No worries! We’ve got you covered. At Wallaroo Hats, we offer a variety of styles to complement many face shapes and sizes. Whether your face is round, long, heart-shaped, thin, or wide, there’s a Wallaroo hat for you. In addition, we make hats specifically designed for larger faces or those with smaller heads and petite stature.

Now, let’s find a hat specifically designed for you!

If your face is ROUND:

Look for hats with angular or structured designs to add a bit of dimension to your face, and hats with a medium to wide brim that will help elongate your face.

A good bet would be a fedora shape - such as the Victoria Fedora, Carkella Sydney Fedora (check out the beautiful denim look), or The Carkella Fairway. Another variation to consider is a trilby style- try  The St. Tropez Trilby, The Carkella Del Mar Trilby  or The Justin.

Avoid hats with round shapes or overly wide brims that can make your face appear rounder.

If you have a LONG FACE:

Look for hats with wide brims that balance the length of your face - think floppy or wide-brimmed styles.

The wide-brimmed St Lucia is perfect with its 4” inch brim and beautiful color options, and the Jane Seymour-inspired Elise will add an elegant and romantic flair to any look. Sun hats like The Cambria or The Baja, or a floppy fedora such as The Outback are other examples of styles that add width to your face and complement long faces nicely.

Avoid tall hats or hats with high crowns - these styles can make your face look even longer.

If you’ve got a HEART-SHAPED FACE:

Look for hats with medium brims and rounded crowns, as these styles soften the appearance of your forehead. Cloche hats or bucket hats suit heart-shaped faces by drawing attention away from the forehead and towards the chin.

The Darby (in regular or petite sizing) is a cloche sun hat that blends vintage design with a modern flair, and its clean lines and neutral tones offer an elevated look for any outfit or activity. Another option is The Victoria - it’s the perfect travel companion offered in 22 colors and comes in regular and petite sizing. Also try other Victoria options such as The Victoria Diva, The Victoria Two-Toned, or The Carkella Victoria.

Avoid hats with too much volume at the crown - as these styles can exaggerate the width of your forehead.

If your face is SQUARE:

Look for hats with soft lines and curves to balance the sharp angles of your face. Try a bowler hat or soft fedora, as these rounded styles can help soften the squareness of your face.

Highlighted by scarves made from actress Jane Seymour’s exclusive artwork, The Lady Jane is an excellent option for square faces. Make a statement with The Marseille (in regular and petite sizing). Its bold stripes add a touch of class to any outfit or event, and since it’s packable, you can take it anywhere.

Avoid hats with strong, angular shapes or structured designs - they tend to accentuate the squareness of your jawline.

If you have a THIN FACE:

Look for hats that add fullness to your face. Good choices are hats that have volume or height at the crown; slouchy beanies or berets can add width to a thin face without overwhelming it.

Many Wallaroo hats feature tall crowns such as The Sanibel, a hat inspired by island living and available in a variety of colors, with regular and petite size options. The Charlie is a sophisticated choice for thin faces, and its neutral tones will work well with any outfit. For a fun, artsy look, a go-to is The Catalina Cowboy, offered in three colors and regular and petite size, and highlighted by a faux suede leather beaded band.

Avoid hats with narrow brims or low crowns that can make your face appear even thinner.

If you’ve got a WIDE FACE:

Look for hats with a medium to wide brim to balance the width of your face. Examples include floppy hats or wide-brim fedoras which help create a more proportional look.

The Sydney works well with a wide face and will definitely turn heads with its classic style and turned up edges. Similar options include The Catalina, The Seaside, and The Breton. For a variation on the turned up edges, try the wide-brimmed Scrunchie and get ready for compliments!

Avoid hats with small or narrow brims that can make your face look wider in comparison.

For those SMALL HEADS and PETITE STATURE:

Look for hats in Petite Sizes - they’re specially designed for smaller heads and feature a smaller crown and circumference.

A wide selection of petite options offers solutions for those with a small head and petite stature. Options include The Petite Gabi, Petite Catalina, or The Petite Charlie.

Avoid hats with a five inch or larger brim if you’re shorter in stature - the extremely wide brims can be overpowering.

If you’ve got a LARGER HEAD:

Look for hats with wide brims like cowboy, sun, and bucket hats.

The Palm Beach Unisex Collection is a great option, as is The Carkella Fairway, The Logan, and The Outback.

Avoid hats with small brims, such as fedoras.

And finally, remember that in addition to matching a hat to your face shape and size, the most important thing is that you like the hat you’re wearing and feel comfortable and confident in it!

Remember - It’s a sunny life. Wear your hat.
